OMG VC....I can't believe the emotional turmoil you're setting up for them, what happens when they (cucumbers, for instance), start to develop both male and female flowers? I really hope you're prepared. xx

I'll talk to them about it when they're a bit older - get them a book that explains it all - or maybe buy all female cucumbers to save the embarrassment!

If you remember the Pogles, here's a bit of nostalgia
Never seen that before - I'm too old! Its so funny and in an odd way, so true to life. I'm going looking for Pogles tomorrow. Thanks Mothhawk!!

Mine are most definitely male - so I say things like "'Morning chaps", or, as I said on another thread - "Hello Big Boy".
Is this a female thing or do you gentlemen treat yours as little ladies, or boys?
And yes, the men in white coats will be along shortly!
I don't call them anything. They are seeds, seedlings, then plants. Start giving them names next VC. Then you won't be able to eat anything and we will have to call you fresh air chicken

Where's your soul, VVG! How can you treat them as casually as if they were a bag of nails. You sow them, give them life, they grow because you water them and watch over them and you dismiss them as common or garden weedlings. Some of my "specials" do have individual names - but I don't have a problem eating them at the end of their days. If they had fur or feathers that would be different......

If I was to name each of my 400 tomatoes and each of my 300 peppers by the time I got to typing out the names you'd call the men in white coats.

And that's not even starting on the beans....billy, bobby, bertie, bernie, bob, bill, ben, AARRGGHH - there's no need for it!

That's reminded me of my chat with DD earlier ( 9 )...she had sex ed at school this week and has decided it's disgusting and never wants to do it. (although I've always been open and honest, I obviously can't have been as graphic as the video). She wondered if there's any other way to have a baby and I explained about IVF but said it's quite expensive. Her reply...' I want to marry a very rich prince then '.
                          Sorry, back to seedlings. x

BTW...the video wasn't graphic as in porno graphic...just CGI.

so if i see a white van pull up,i should be very afraid, there was me thinking they were mad drivers,it could well be the cargo they carrying then, that could also answer for the amount of white vans on our roads, there be a lot of us

Not as bed as when my ten year old came home and asked me what w****** meant. It was on that same CGI video. How do you start to explain?
I said its nothing for you to worry about yet...forget about it. I was told "I talked to Vaughan about Lego Star Wars instead. The video was boring."

                              Thank goodness was my view

Sex ed when I was in school stopped with the amoeba. Perhaps that's why I never had kids
