I am sure some will in time, which brings me to a point. When the kids reach adulthood, some will no doubt go off the rails and do weird & wonderful things. Do I blame myself for their upbringing, are they just developing their own personality, or...........are they doing it just to pi55 me off?..........

Its nature vs nurture, BM. You can only do your best for them, give them the upbringing that they deserve and hope that no outside influences come along to distract them and stifle their growth.
Its not easy bringing up amoebas these days, let alone kids, so I am not best placed to advise you, sorry. I'm sure you will be very proud of some of them and, as for the rest, chuck 'em in the compost heap!
I think we should leave that in your remit after all you are the only life long member and I am but a recent addition.
Pa Snips seems a good bet apart from his name. Pa has in male Snips as in a certain op I had a few years ago. The thought still brings tears to my eyes.
Please accept my sincere sorries for making sense I will try to see it does not happen again.

Well I am neither a father nor have I been snipped...I've just been very careful
Tried and Tested...but the results are inconclusive
I don't tend to talk to my plants, although I do think at them.... Just this afternoon I sat on the corner of the front garden "hedge" bed and thought at all the wee hawthorn, plum and hazel trees (in the front line from the road) and the gooseberries, red and black currents behind them. I really enjoyed the communing, and expect great results tomorrow.
I do talk to the birds, bees, flies (not normally genteel speech), etc etc. And the stars when they come out at night - and OF COURSE the moon. Then there's Lilly-the-cat when she deigns to be present to oversee the gardening.
Oh, and the OH too, but he doesn't grow any taller - just slighly pudgier (but that's the cake, puds, and whisky!).
If the river hasn't reached the top of your step, DON'T PANIC!
Never seen that before - I'm too old! Its so funny and in an odd way, so true to life. I'm going looking for Pogles tomorrow. Thanks Mothhawk!!
Later the series became Pogles Wood, and a bit more educational, but I never liked that as much as The Pogles. I loved the way Pogle came out of the treehouse every morning and said "Mornin', plaaant", and the way he called Mrs Pogle "Wife".
I don't really talk to my seedlings. I did say sorry to a worm that I accidentally chopping in half digging this morning though
Yep, I do that, too. I've been digging over turf and then cultivating, so you can imagine the casualty toll. Good thing I'm not a house-elf (think Dobby...).
Tonight, I forgot that nobody but me knew that I had rats in my bag...I may now be known as the mad lady that speaks squeak speak to her little pink bag.
the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.
