Ive measured is approx 57x28 foot, its hard to measure through grass and rushes on your own, so its longer than the last one, but a lot narrower, though if im honest the grass is a lot less boggy, so ill have better planting soil.
There are a lot of rushes on it, but having spoke to neighbouring plots they started out just the same and they have been fine once they've been trimmed and covered with polythene.
Whilst i was down there, a lady gave me a huge piece of polythene to cover some of the rushes and some bricks and another allotment holder gave me this:
Allotment / chicken coop
it needs some work on it including an new roof for the nesting area at the back, and some replacement wood. It comes with a stand too, so its mainly off the ground, though its been on the groun all winter it might need the floor re-doing.
Here is a picture of the new plot:
Allotment / new plot
from the metal pole in the middle of the picture, it would be 25foot that way and then at the back you can see some fence posts. Its not the best picture, but you get an idea. I have three paths all the way around the plot, and then where i am stood backs down a hill into the river darwen. An allotment holder told me to get some fencing up because quite often deer come up the hill on to the plots.
As i would stood there, there was a woodpecker around making a right racket!!
Though this plot is going to be hard work, its going to be better than the other one for drainage extra
