  • The roads seemed to be uncommonly quiet this morning, probably caused by people being scared to use the full tank of fuel they queued hours to obtain, so we arrived way too early at my wife's place of work and decided to see if Morrisons had any diesel.
Not only did they have both petrol and diesel but there were no queues either. We rolled straight up to the pump and put £20.00 in and nobody pulled up behind us while we were there.
On my way back home I stopped off at BP (despicable company that they are) to use their free tyre inflater (I wouldn't actually buy anything from BP) and once again noted that they had both fuel types and only two cars fuelling up, despite there being eight pumps.
Tried and Tested...but the results are inconclusive

    • What petrol shortage? Went to Sainsbugs - the usual number of cars filling up - spare pumps and diesel £143.9 the same as I usually have to pay. It was 1p dearer at Tosce - no queues there either.
However, Sainsbugs had no fuel at all over the weekend - the cashier described it as traumatic - not sure what that implies!
So I can do about 500 - 600 miles now before I have to think about the petrol shortage.

More likely it's because the school's are now closed for Easter...?!

Ah yes, I forgot about the kid-factor, though it's hard to believe that about 80% of traffic is caused by kids driving to school...weird! When I was one of those things we used to walk.

That's what I was going to say too - can tell when the schools are off as I can get to work in half the time in the car and for once it's actually quicker to drive.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Funny how drivers seem to get younger and younger!

              • School holidays, the only time I venture out before 9-15am, it's just not worth it at any other time. I feel for the people that have to face the rush hour + school run.

                            • Good morning, went out at 5.30am in search of the elusive yellow bellied golden nectar. Thought I would try the 24hr Asda nature reserve first as they are often spotted grazing. When I got there I could see 8 of them and not a sole in sight so slowly approched so as not to scare them but they were protected by bollards......24hr my 4rse.....so carries on my journey & managed to finally get me some....... 7 squids a gallon.... (for you young 'ens a gallon = 5 litres....).
At least I can manage to get to the lottie.

                              • No problems here yesterday. No queues and, no empty pumps and kids haven't broke up yet.
