But dogs don't usually manage to catch them, let alone eat them. They just chase them for fun.

You have obviously (luckily) never seen a greyhound grab a straying cat, toss it in the air and shake it like a rabbit until it is dead then Rustylady?

I have to say MANY greyhounds are cat friendly but not ALL due to their breeding and they are usually cat tested by rescue centres before rehoming.
Mind is a COMPLETE SOFT LAD with kids, people etc etc, although I wouldn't trust ANY dog alone anyway - but NOT cat friendly. He has to wear a muzzle in his own garden, despite me erecting 7ft fences for his safety, because he will chase any cat (and is fast enough to catch them and will shake them like a rabbit). It's for any straying cats safety not anything else.I am a vegetarian and wish no/avoid harm to any animal.

Some people see greyhound out wearing muzzles and assume it's because they are aggressive or whatever, but mainly it's to protect wildlife. While household mutts wil chase things, cats squirrels etc for fun, 'hounds' will chase and kill - its not aggressive its breeding

I will always have hound type dogs over choosing to have cats as well - I respect cats as much as any other animal - but just SO not a cat person.

I have to reiterate many friends with greyhounds have cats they have grown up with and they adore each other. I just rehome the older ones that noone wants that haven't been used to them

I love this thread. Here's a 'definition' I've heard regarding dogs and cats:

Feed a dog and he thinks you're a god.
Feed a cat and he thinks he's a god.

              Mikey,

If you knew where I had been this afternoon and what for, and more important what is to follow next.

You would (a) have coffee all over your putor screen or (b) being a chap be squirming in your chair.

Me I am wiping my screen as I type.

Swelling in a very awkward place for a chap, one of two you understand. Great relief and happiness this afternoon when ultrasound confirmed only fluid. Tinged by apprehension when told it would have to be drained.

Then Mikey comes up with 'lanced' nearly fell off me seat.

Typical wimmim B*lls is a blend my dear not a single malt.

Or to put it in Welsh B*lls is a gulping whisky you know Cardiff docks on a Sat night. Whilst single malt is a sipping whisky.

Thanks for the reminder Binners would you care to come and dry my eyes.
