What do you take to the lottie?

Have a bag with basic hand tools in that don't live on the plot (also used at home) and also take keys, water, phone, notebook, food as necessary for the stay and whatever plants and seeds I need for the trip. Everything else lives there. Couldn't be doing with carrying anymore than I need. Have a Kelly Kettle there plus herbal T bags (therefore no milk needed), hot chocolate mix, cup-a-soup, first aid kit, hand santitiser and suncream all in the shed - wouldn't have anywhere to keep them all at home either

Seriously though, we have a Lidl's store within 5 minutes walk and a MacDonalds a further 100yds beyond that so no need to carry sustenance with me. I keep all my tools and gubbins in my plot sheds(three plots, two sheds) so nowt to carry. I see a few have mentioned medication and I have anti-histamine tablets in the car at all times as I'm horribly allergic to bee stings. Real pity because I would love to keep bees.

I haven't got any storage there ( we're not allowed) so everything goes with me .. it is a bit of a faff so I am very jealous of all of you who have sheds!

Like Bren, I grow in my garden at home, so everything is on hand. It does get a bit lonely sometimes, but I think you could say that the Vine is my allotment and I have lots of friends to interact with on here

Always take the dogs. They have their own fenced off play pen area on my lottie. Hide chews, gravy bones and bonio are kept at the plot. No shed (not allowed) but all tools and dog treats are stored in a dalek type composter.

Key,knife, bottle of water, cup ,sarnie (if there a while) , any seeds or plants, phone , gloves , steelies (can't drive in them ) and any posh tools thats needed ie hedgecutter , strimmer etc....
. In the shed there is a kettle , stove, tea, coffee, milk powder, cup a soups, tools (not decent ones ) etc

It has been a while since I went down to the lottie so it is a bit difficult to remember but here goes

Now I have a lockable shed most of the stuff stays there apart from flask, water, iPod.

It could be said why would I need a lockable shed when the site is on camp - but one never knows!

As for 'admin breaks' (aka toilet) we have a lovely coffee shop (aka Junior ranks Mess) just five mins walk from the site. I've yet to go in there covered in mud, I can hear them now - 'ere, isn't the Flt Sgt Warren's misses, what an oik'

My leather gloves, string, scissors, hammer and nails, handwash, drink (though it is next to a cafe so don't really need snacks etc), what I am planting, nappies (tissues etc in the change bag), baby wipes, baby toys, baby. Will start taking a trowel or something when it gets busier though as the communal tools may well be used at that point. Camera is a good idea!

Nowt wrong with a woman being a woose, it's what makes us men turn all protective and male like and don't wimmin milk it for all it is worth .

IMO, a lockable shed is an absolute must. Garden tools are not only expensive, they can become valued for sentimental reasons(my dad's old tools are very precious to me although not worth much in financial terms) and also for ergonomic reasons. It can take years to break in a new spade or hoe and it can be very disappointing when a tool like that goes missing. Common sense says lock them up when not in use and to do that one needs somewhere lockable.

As for toilet breaks, I'm within 5 minutes of home for serious matters <koff> and men do have physical advantages in respect of the others. Bit difficult in the middle of a military camp mind.

They will be doing a roaring trade with fish & chips today, it being Good Friday and i will probably join the queue, grubby hands annall!
