My fave is the one my mother (a cat hater) used to tell me that my cats would murder my baby children by lying on thir faces in the night! :O Thankfully this has turned out not to be true!

I've had lots of cats over the years, mostly that just turn up on the doorstep, but only once had a cat that wanted to lie as close to, or on people's faces as they slept. She came from a neighbour who used to shut her out of the house a lot so she gradually moved in with us. I asked the neighbour if she would mind if I adopted her cat as it spent more time with us than her, and she said she would be very happy, as the cat always wanted to sleep in the babys cot on top of the baby.

It was not malicious, you understand, the cat wanted the warmth and also loved to be as close as possible to whoever she had chosen for the night. I often woke in the night with a mouthful of fur, until I had the bright idea of putting a hot wheat heat bag thingy at the bottom of the bed under the clothes, and from then on she curled up contentedly on that instead.

My mum has this one for wort's.....
Get a rasher of bacon and rub it on your wart.
Then berry it in the garden.
As it rots, your wart is supposed to fall off!??

Haloween was the night the wiches went to sweep the cobwebs off the moon.

As in "Jack and Jill" vinegar and brown paper on the forehead MAY reduce the severity of a migraine attack. This seems to work. Cheers, Tony.

Nearly did, just by laughing. But that's because the playground is many years ago for me.

What about 'tuck your vest in or you'll get a cold in your kidneys'?

Funny that! They call them pissenlit here in France which, roughly translated means wet the bed

Aah, that's because you were told to eat your greens, I was told to eat my crusts and, as you can see, it worked for me!

I was tolled that crust on bread make your hair curly,not quite true,as mine is very fizzy cottonwool tangle stuff,guess i must have eaten to many,I still like a crust to day,will have to faf about see if i can get a pic posted up of when i was younger,very scarry

My Mum told me the same thing and I always ate crusts (had to really as it was all there was ). Not a curl in sight, just wayward sticky out bits!

... I should add, it took me AGES and lots of "product" to get them to curl the way I wanted. Normally, mine is more like Lottie's I had a friend (once) who said, I like your hair, it's ... wild!

So nearly true - it's a diuretic so if you eat too many of them - you will!
