Puts me in mind of one of our grape's (Tripmeup) signature (although they have it somewhat jumbled):
Yesterday returneth not,
Perchance tomorrow cometh not,
Today is thine; misuse it not.Our England is a garden, and such gardens are not made
By singing-'Oh how beautiful!" and sitting in the shade,
While better men than we go out and start their working lives
At grubbing weeds from gravel paths with broken dinner-knives. ~ Rudyard Kipling

Wonderful poem, Sewer Rat. Thank you for posting it !
This is about the only poem that I come even close to knowing by heart; the truth in it has seen me through many a dark day:
Look to this day
for it is life
the very life of life.
In its brief course lie all
the realities and truths of existence
the joy of growth
the splendor of action
the glory of power.
For yesterday is but a memory
And tomorrow is only a vision.
But today well lived
makes every yesterday a memory
of happiness
and every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well, therefore, to this day....

I bthink it's human nature to get caught up in life and not do the things you wanted to, or lived it to the full, so it's only when something happens, either someone dies, or has a life threatening illness or disease, that we stop and think, bloody hell, better carpe diem before it carpes me....it's good ot be reminded of that
