Same here Jeanie- I hate anything synthetic. I espesh love linen - but where can you get it these days?

I'm going to have a go at redoing them tomorrow - I feel much more positive now that I've seen the video!

I knew I could count on you lot to help me regain my sanity!

    Thank you!

I got my latest batch of linen sheets from JL - it was on sale! Otherwise I have some vintage metis sheets bought on ebay - originally from France. I also have a set of 'old Bleach' which is an Ulster brand. I love them. As far as my old French ebay sheets - one has my intials on it! Best idea is to get back to the flea markets!

I wouldn't recommend ironing the sheet on the bed. Modern mattresses are treated with a flame retardant and sometimes water can break down the chemical finish down. Also, and it again, it's only a maybe but they might have different melting points too. A fused sheet to the mattress will make it much harder to change

I love looking through 'cloth boxes' at the vide greniers here( car boot sales)- problem is that the vintage sheets seem to be for 4 ft or 4ft6" beds and are so rough you could exfoliate in your sleep! ( now that WOULD be multitasking wouldn't it????)

You reckon the hailstones will bash them flat?

Tumble dry them, and stick them on the mattress while they're still hot. A voilà, no creases.

That video is brilliant. My sheets will look much better in my airing cupboard with that method. I don't iron my sheets, but I can understand those who do and in Nicos's case, has to. I do like to iron my pillowcases, there's something about freshly ironed pillowcases for me. Thinking about it, I iron all the bedding, including bottom fitted single sheets for the GG's beds

I'm an ironer - but not of fitted sheets, my body weight does that job for me

I reckon that by the time they're stretched over the mattress, you won't notice any wrinkles and neither will your holiday-makers!

Patchninja could be right Nicos, you could always ask for feedback You ever seen Four In A Bed? Love that programme, it was in France a couple of weeks ago.

My mother taught me how to do that fold when I was a teen. Hence not liking ironing all that much.

When you do your irons, once it's folded - make sure that you iron the folds though, so that even if the flat bit stretches out - the main thing you will see is the ironed creases so it looks ironed even if it wasn't.

I have a vertical steam generator which is great for difficult or delicate things: just hang them from a door or whatever, and fire a big shot of steam all over it. You get a similar effect by hanging suits etc in a warm steamy bathroom

^ ^ ^ Worth a try, Nicos, but I find the tumble dry and fold immediately as per the video works best for me. I do iron my duvet covers and pillow cases, but draw the line at the fitted sheets. Once folded I store them - with the pillow cases inside the last fold of the duvet. No rummaging for matching sets in this house.
And yes! I LIKE ironing!! I can catch up on stuff that I've recorded off the TV while doing it and the time just flies!
