  • Im a lil bit intimidated....

...with my plot as previous tennants never let a weed grow, it was immaculate, as other allotment holders continue to tell me on a daily basis, Im under pressure before ive even started to keep it as it was .........:s

Its is a sad situation as to why i got the plot as the gentleman has bone cancer and his wife couldnt keep up the plot, so I listen to the 'hes a loverly man ' he was here most days ' etc which is fine, its the he did this she did that every day, ive stopped talking about my plans and just smile and carry on digging, its because im young I think, ( though not the youngest)

I think im in the arty corner, twee beach hut sheds, country garden looks, one holder is a designer, think i wanna move to the hardened holders at the other end where its messy nothing is thrown out and held together with string and a prayer, pee in buckets of straw and drink highly stewed tea

my piccies are to big to put on here havent a clue on how to shrink them yet

lol I would feel the same. Our garden is lookiing worse than usual ie untidy and bit's everywhere. Electric tape (not electrified) and baling twine around garden beds to keep the dogs off............You need a sign like the big one I'm going to make.

An Untidy Garden is a Happy Garden............mine's freaking delirious!

Oh I should just mention tho that this year is the first year we've had such a great harvest from the gardens tho!
If you want to shrink your photo's you go to 'open with' and choose 'paint' then when the box pops up I change the 100% to 13% and they fit nicely.

Do you want to keep it as it was? If not, then don't.

What you need is some headphones for when anyone else is there. Doesn't matter if they are just tucked in your pocket and not plugged into anything.

You could ask if there is a plot going at the other end [you never know] but it's your plot, and you are now in charge.

All I would say is to make your changes over a period of time so that you know they are going to work for you - rather than remove everything in one go.

I think photos get resized automatically on here now, so have a go and see if they do.

ps - you could take a leaf out of Angry Janice's approach - http://angryjanice.blogspot.co.uk/20...beginning.html

don't worry about it. Smile and then do exactly what you want to do anyway...If anyoine points out a weed, it isn't a weed, it's green manure....

It's lovely to see a well kept plot but there has to be a sense of reality. Everybody cannot commit to spending all their free time on their allotment and you can only do what you can in the time you have available. Just make that clear to the "well wishers". Do also bear in mind though that "dirty plots" are probably the biggest source of complaint from allotment holders. If you are struggling to keep the plot in good order, try mulching the worst areas to keep the weeds down. Good luck with your plot.

As the others have said. Ignore the others and do what you want. It's a lovely looking plot if a bit too regimental for me. Make it yours.

Just smile politely & say "I have a plan" wait for a comment & then smile politely & say "all will become clear in the fullness of time" before any further comment from "old hand" smile & say "well it was nice to meet you,but must get on" turn & walk away ......................

Oh! Wow! how lucky you are to have a plot not overgrown - just do your own thing and look forward to what you will be eating in a little while. We had our half plot 4 weeks today and we're still digging out all the weeds, grass and rubbish. 67 plastic sacks have been unearthed so far and counting. We share this half plot with the previous owner who has the other half. He apparently grew nettles, horse radish, chives and several huge compost heaps on our half. Our neighbours are so happy we are clearing everything that I spend ages chatting which is lovely as we are getting lots of advice. Have just recharged the battery on my cd player what a good idea about the headphones. Shortly the plot will be 'yours' - if you look around no allotment is the same as any other and everyone grows what they want to.

~Perhaps the compost heaps will have kept the soil fertile for you.
Hope you have begtter luck tacking out the horseradish though as I think that is pretty incvasive (unless I am thinking of something else of course!)
Nettle beer, nettle liquid manure (now that does pong I know as I made some last year)
                            Good luck with the allotment

Congratulations, that's a great looking plot. Just do your best and ignore the rest (neighbouring plot holders, not the good people on here )
