Where to buy nice tubs??

anyone have any suggestions on where to buy some nice, colourful tubs/pots/planters for the garden??
Plastic ones seem the cheapest but usually come in really boring colours (black, green or terracotta)..... failing that, any suggestions for how to create an attractive display of potted plants??
(pictures would be great......coz Im extremely nosy!!LOL)

If you're after bright colours Tub Trugs spring to mind. Handles would make them easy to move around, although you'd have to drill holes in the bottom for drainage.

Thanks... I'll look into it. Are trugs def ok to drill though?? (I have tried before with a plastic tub and it split , although the garlic I plonked in it dont seem to mind!)

I like the ? terracotta? sets that the supermarkets sell - 3 or 4 matching pots in different sizes. Haven't lost any to frost yet.

If you want to drill through plastic, hold the tip of the drill over a flame for 30 seconds or so. The hot tip will melt the plastic preventing splitting.
Only the tip, mind you, or you will burn your hands.
That sounds a bit condescending, doesn't it ?

best thing is to drive around and visit every garden centre / nursery you can find .... there's one near me that has a massive collection of glazed pots in all sizes and colours and very cheap .... plus 4 x 75 litres multi purpose compost for a tenner .... i wouldn't have known about the pots unless i'd been in there ....

ahh, if only I could drive!! Plus I only have one fairly crappy garden centre within walking distance.
NM, a visit to the 24hr Tesco resulted in a couple of snazzy blue 41l trugs at less then 3 squid each!

If you're stuck with ugly pots in the future, plant things that will spill over the sides If you want to plant something in particular that doesn't have this habit, just use a too-big container and put it in the middle of plants that do. Of course this only works when the pots aren't bare!

You could buy the 'boring' ones and decorate them with 'sticky-backed plastic', or paint them using acrylic paints...... I believe you can still get stencils (so you don't have to rely on your own artistic abilities, in case that was going to be a problem).
