I quite like Alan Titchmarsh, he's like a nice old uncle and I always liked the way he was relaxed about doing things differently on GW rather than the RHS approved way and that if you liked it then it was fine even if other people didn't - remember his doing a thing about the show bench which took a lot of the stuffiness out of it. I've not seen him on anything for ages either so not sure where the overkill is coming in.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

It's a great way to ensure I won't buy a gardening product - put Alan Titchmarsh's name on it. Same goes for anything with a celebrity chef's name on it. I want a product that's worth buying because it's good not because of an endorsement from someone paid more than me.
Definition of a celebrity - someone well known for being famous.
Rant off! Richard.

Personally I like him, I used to watch ground force and enjoyed it, it was at a time when makeover shows weren't two a penny. I've also read one of his novels, but it didn't do much for me.
I think he's a very knowledgeable gardener, and offers good advise. However, you can't pay that much attention to me, I didn't know he had a chat show?I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

As a gardener he knows his stuff and carried Gardeners World for 7 years after Geoff Hamilton . One of the reasons he gave it up was because he wanted to move and not have his new garden planned to fit the programme.
Overkill? He's not on much any more is he? apart from the daytime chatshows - and I don't watch those.
But anything gardening related - then I'm there in front of the tv.Last edited by Thelma Sanders; 23-04-2012, 01:23 PM.
