Nothing against Newcastle normally but am hoping they take one for us all this time.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Often back the centre halves Mally, a lot of them pop up with 3 or 4 goals a season, so with the prices on offer you just need to have the bottle to back them pretty much every game and you make money. Particular favs are Kompany and Lescott at Man C, Huth at Stoke, Hangeland at Fulham, Collins and Dunne at Villa and Terry and Ivanovic at Chelsea.

If you're interested, I'm a keen spread better and this lovely young lady explains all about it.

Spreadex | Spread Betting | Sports Spread Betting

Spread betting is a fascinating way to bet and I make thousands every year (it paid for my polytunnel!!), but obviously there are losses as well. My biggest loss so far was exactly £1,000. I bet on Plymouth Argyle to exceed 51 points the last season they were in the Championship in 2009/10. We were on our hols in Cornwall the previous summer and it was all over the local news that Plymouth had been acquired by a Japanese consortium. So I thought, they'll spend a bit of money and will easily exceed the 51 point margin quoted by the spread firm. So I piled in at a stake of £100 a point. Unfortunately it turned out that these Japs actually had very little money and Plymouth went down with 41 points so I lost (51-41)×£100. Ouch!

My biggest win was last footy season where I backed Gary McKenzie of MK Dons to score. He duly obliged and I made £3,350. The spread firm had predicted he would score after the 2nd minute in their "Player Goal Minutes" market, and being a centre half, the chances were he wouldn't score at all so the result of the market would be 0 and having gone high at 2 for £50 a point, I was set to lose £100. But he scored in the 69th minute for me so I won (69-2)×£50. Good old Gary, I'll buy him a pint if ever I meet him!

So is the Baggies manager really going to be new England manager? Or is it just a tabloid rumour?

Strikes me as a "safe" appointment. The FA got badly burnt with Capello, and they had a dodgy geezer in Venables, so perhaps didn't want another one in Redknapp, so Hodgson is clean as a whistle and has a lot of dignity. He also has a record of making average teams punch above their weight and, let's be honest here, that's what England will have to do to get anywhere in the Euros.

Only reason I would have liked Redknapp is to annoy some of my Spurs mates. I get sick of them saying "this is going to be our year" when we all know it isn't going to happen and they'll end up in the Europa League again. Always makes me chuckle.

Well at least Mr. Hodgson speaks the lingo and there won't be any misunderstandings in what he will be reported as saying. I don't believe in foreign managers of a national team, how can they not have divided interests if they really love the beautiful game?

                            Anyway, we'll see.

I don't believe in all the foriegn players in the premiership but that's a whole new debate........If we don't have the players coming through the ranks, it doesn't matter who manages them........sorry, should be on the soap box thread.........
