There's a special BOGOF offer on today, AP. You can have Mary as well (not really).

I think you need to put your flexitub away safely until your doggie woggies need one of these thingies they get around their necks that stops them chewing on sore bits etc.

They'd have one heck of a job coming through the dog flap with that round their necks!

Lovely dogs VC. And looky there at MikeyWills' new avatar!!!

I have a few broken tub trugs on my allotment - the trouble with them is that they are not very UV stable and break up quite easily. I'd use it as a planter while you can and an ordinary drill should cut through the base without any need for heat.

I think you should put something nice and big in it - how about one of the Bishop's children dark leaf dahlias?
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

And Now For Something Completely Different (well a bit, anyway and that includes Mikey the changed man). I wouldn't drill holes and I'd grow watercress in it, 'cause you can drain it regularly and put in fresh water. Just a suggestion.

Thanks Flo. I've been growing watercress in an old sink under a downpipe. Maybe I'll put this one on the overflow from the waterbutt. So many options - I may need to buy a few more trugs!

If you cut the top rim off, and the bottom and replaced the side with some polythene would you have a decent sized cloche?
                      ........where's the tip?

There's no trug like an old trug!

I have one iof these and its invaluable. The handles broke on mine also but undeterred, I made new ones.

Simple really, all you need is a stanley knife or similar. Cut a sausage shaped slot on each side of the trug. If you want to give it extra strength, dont cut the top edge of the sausage and fold it upwards instead. Perfick!

Don't you dare chuck it away or else I'll report you to the 'trug abusement party'!!!!!!

Mines like 'triggers' brush, its god knows how old and its had two sets of new handles.

Chuck it away?? Impossible, Snadger. It can carry on doing what its been doing for months now - holding kindling for the fire, or wet wellies in the porch.
When I noticed that 3 trugs were lined up in front of the fire that I thought I should do something. One with sticks, one with logs and the other with aired washing. There was no room for me and the dogs

Aah, but my copper pipe was on a heap of junk at the car boot. "How much do you want for this?" says I. "Aw you can have that love" says he.............. result! Better than a fiver for a new drill bit that makes decent size holes - the one with the pointy end to centre it.

No blowtorch, no gas, I do have a box of matches though!
Matches are a good start VC, but you'd be better off using them to start a bonfire to heat the pipe. You could have baked 'tatos and hot marshmallows for lunch while you're waiting for the pipe to heat up.
Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you are probably right.

Personally, I'd cut two slots under the broken handles (like wot Unca Snadge said), and keep using it as I was before! They are soooooo useful!
