        Community Environment Youth Worker
        Part time 12hrs per week (30%), including some evenings, weekends and school holidays. This contract is for 6 months.
        Salary Level: SCP 24, £20,858 per year pro rata
        plus 5% matched pension contribution.
        Based in Bradford.

        The post holder will join our team at Wibsey Park Community Garden. They will lead and develop youth involvement ensuring that local young people are involved in volunteering and recreational opportunities during the next phase of development at the site. The post holder will work closely with other local youth agencies and a steering group of local young people. The post holder will also source and supervise specialist session providers and implement ASDAN accredited activities.

              About the Job: Education Officer

              The Education Officer will support teaching staff in the delivery of after-school clubs and will liaise closely with Change4Life West Newcastle to develop cooking skills among children and the broader community. This would primarily focus on developing the ability to utilise produce from the school garden (or locally foraged) in various recipes. The Education Officer will also work closely with staff responsible for training and development within each school to deliver a high quality programme of Continuous Professional Development (CPD). The programme will be designed to increase the knowledge and confidence of teaching staff to make effective use of the growing areas through after-school clubs.

              Volunteer Coordinator

              The Volunteer Coordinator will work closely with school staff and children to develop growing areas in the school grounds. Using volunteers the project will ensure that these growing areas are managed to ensure maximum productivity of fruit and vegetables from the site. The Volunteer Coordinator will also identify foraging opportunities in the locality of each school where additional food can safely be collected. The Volunteers will be given the opportunity to take part in accredited training through Newcastle College.

                Community Faciltator: Local Food Systems
                Fixed term Contract: 1 Sept 2012 to 31 Aug 2013, 0.6 FTE post
                Location: Home-Based, role to cover Midlands area

                Lead Making Local Food Work partner Plunkett Foundation is looking to appoint a highly motivated individual to act as an adviser/ facilitator to a range of communities in the Midlands areas. You will be working with groups who are interested in clustering together to share their strengths and solve common problems. This role will be part of a team reviewing how collaboration can strengthen local food systems in communities across the country.

                The post holder will be responsible for directly supporting a number of communities in the Midlands area, building a strong knowledge base, and working within a project team, including two other regionally-based community facilitators.

                You will have excellent communication skills, be a self-starter, and have the ability to liaise effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders. You should also have a passion for local food and a belief in the value of community-based solutions.

                          It's just that working for Health the term 'Highly Motivated Individual' usually means if it needs doing you need to do it no matter how much else you're already doing, and if something was done wrong by anyone you are going to be the 'individual' who cops the blame. Think I need to find another job - one where I don't know what's happening next!
