I wouldn't have a problem with cooking veggies during the day and leaving them to cool, its just the meat that concerns me. A slow cooker would keep things at a low temperature all day long - I presume that is OK for meat.

The trouble is, it's the meat that always takes the longest time to cook............I don't have a slow cooker..........

Depends on what sort of veggies you're cooking and how you're cooking them ......root veg in a casserole can take as long as the meat.

Take your oven to work with you and keep it under the desk! A girl I used to work with would bring her roast to the office to cook in the staff kitchen!

How about making a haybox......you get everything nice and bubbly hot then stick your pot in a box thats insulated with hay and by the time you get home it should be cooked ....

Its years since I've cooked meat but the memory lingers on! Only mega joints or stewing meats would take a long time to cook. Chops, steaks, chicken portions don't take very long. What do you cook, BM, a whole ox?

Think how much more allotment veg you'd eat them. Its cheaper too.
Or, you could cook your meat meals when you're at home to keep an eye on them, and veggie in the week. You can always lob in some precooked meat before you eat.

Or use some homemade chicken stock for soups , pasta etc.....you could make up a load and freeze it in usuable quantities....

Just remembered what I used to do when cooking for one meat eater and one veggie each week and not home from work until 6pm.
                              Meat eaters menu:-.
Sunday - cook a roast - chicken, beef or lamb with all the veg.. Monday. cold meat and reheated veg.
Tuesday cold meat and fry up. Wednesday left over meat in a curry or chinese. Thursday, sausages or something quick. Friday pasta, Saturday fish & chips. Sunday start again.
None of it took long to cook in the week.
