Making Life A Little Easier

Very sad I know, but we probably spend a good six hours a week ironing for a family of four. Not helped by an old steam iron that had seen better days to be honest. Anyway, it was starting to leak badly and become unsafe so Mr VVG went and purchased one of those steam generator models as they had been price dropped to match a competitor. Nice surprise for me My goodness, have I whizzed through the ironing tonight. It puts out more steam than a Finnish sauna. What gadget makes your life easier and why?

Several million years ago, I worked and then managed a dry cleaners. The steam iron there was hideously amazing...other than pleats and creases, you just had to put the clothes on the hanger and zap them.

My food processor and my kitchen aid. I wouldn't be without either. Oh and the slow cooker

This thing is described as a professional steam generator - I received a nice facial at the same time. Iron clothes, open your pores

Concur with the KitchenAid - got the big mixer - does everything! I have Brenda the Blender too - she's good as well. I can do cooking

A knife sharpener...so much easier thanthe old hand held stone thing..I shall have to compare the stone v the handheld thingy....like this

it's really good for axes so far, and kitchen knives, not fantastic, but pretty close.
I caved in and bought an iron after 20 years without one, but it was only to stick hemmingweb, so I don't feel so bad.
I used to have to iron my own, my sisters and my mothers overalls every other week. 18 stiff white canvas overalls....I gave up ironing after that so you'll never find me waxing lyrical about an iron, but I'm glad you've found a good one

Just remembered. Me and my neighbour were chatting the other day about Pampered Chef's scrapers. The absolute cheapest thing on their books but also absolutely amazing. Plates, saucepans, surfaces....wherever there's a slight dried on spill, pampered chef scraper will deal with it.

If only, school uniforms and work shirts are endless in this house. I am well chuffed with this new thing. It goes like a ...well steam engine Less time for me at a board getting bored. Don't like the sound of stiff canvas overalls...I would have left those!

Probably the hand blender for making smooth soup without much washing up.

Ironing? I packed the iron away when I ironed my last school shirt last year for my son.
I'm afraid I'd rather have the crumples and the hours for me to spend on something else.

I hate ironing too so no iron is ever going to make my life easier.

I would like a food processor that can chop up veg for pickle making. Other than that it has to be the washing machine and the vacum. Essential kit today but I remember when I didn't have either and a baby to look after using terry nappies.
