I know that my dog has separation anxiety, and whines and howls like a mad thing when we leave her in the house on her own, thus we very rarely leave her on her own, even though I have deaf neighbours on both sides. It isn't fair on the dog, even if the neighbours aren't bothered!

Suggest finding the contact details for some local dog-walking services and put them through the door, with a note saying 'this might be a good idea, before you're reported as a noise nuisance, and/or to the RSPCA'

The neighbour with the new dog used to walk the other dog - but not sure anyone is doing it now. The dog hears me at home and just howls the place down I think...poor thing.

Mine is the same, so I take him with me. When I leave him, he has the Cat (usually asleep) and the radio is left on, for company for him. He also has a basket of toys and chews to keep him occupied.

They usually only make a noise when they know there is someone within ear-shot. My old neighbours left two German Shepherds in their house all day, every day. They used to go berserk if anyone went past. The rest of us laughed when one day, one of them broke into the lounge, which was at the front of the property. Someone went past, and the dog lost the plot. Totally. The net curtains were shredded, the heavy curtains were pulled down, rail and all, and the sofa was trashed! Great!

        We moved.

I'd start by putting a note through their doors, personally. I know you're not there every day, but you can bet they're noisy when you're away, too. Poor sods.

Having dogs and bu££ering off out, be it to work or play is wrong...plain wrong! My neighbours do this but come back at lunch for wee walking. However, one lot put the dogs out and go AWOL all day and YES I have threatened them with the RSPCA. They have cats too, who are out all night. They make me mad. They are merely objects of five minute desire.

Maybe a call to the RSPCA might be in order. No dog should be left on its own all day.

Have you told them their dogs bark/yap/howl all day while they're out Zaz? I would. No dog should be shut up all day like that, the dog police certainly wouldn't like it.

Simply genius, especially if they are outside having a BBQ(you just know they will) !

They are stood right next to the yapper - so that neighbour definitely knows...and the other one, he howls when he is in the garden and he does nothing about it.

I've thought many times about who to call; I'm not sure the RSPCA do anything about animals that are just left all day, as otherwise they would have their work cut out as there must be millions of animals left all day.

Not my French (bull) dog: she can't bark at all, just kind of "acks" ~ but thinking about it, she can't manage the "ck" either, it's more just the "a" !

I discourage that too: I hate barking dogs. She tried it on for the first two weeks, but we totally ignored her noise. When she fell quiet, she got lots of treats & praise: she now hardly ever makes a noise (usually only if she's cr@pped in her bed overnight )

They do! Warnings come first if no apparent mess or cruelty. They will want to look at health, habitat, access to and from house/garden, etc. that should be enough to scare them into action.

What breed is the howler, as some larger dogs are more prone to this? Do you know? Can you describe?

There was a house next to my lottie where big dogs were left to bark all day. Everyone was fed up with it, but nobody did anything. Me, I'm gobby I am ~ and interfering
I typed up an official looking letter & this leaflet and posted it to the house: the barking stopped shortly after that

It's brown and white. Does that help?

What did they do - muzzle it or take it to work?
