  • Planning Applications........

Just been looking online at the planning application for the large area behind our house. Now why would the Ecological Appraisal be confidential and not be disclosed to the general public
    Anyone understand these things ?

I would have thought you would have a right to view the appraisal if it forms part of the planning application. Ask the Planning Authority.

Thanks Bins. Could there be any wildlife habitat at the site? Badgers, bats, or even rare plants that require protection and the whereabouts of which would normally be kept secret and protected?
Its a while since I've been involved in planning issues......

Developers have been putting up security fencing and taking down trees and the application hasn't gone through yet ......Ok they've promised to give us a secure parking area , but I'm feeling that's so that we're grateful and keep our gobs shut.....

Are any of the trees subject to Tree Preservation orders (TPOs)? It can be "convenient" for a developer to "accidentally" take down the wrong tree. Gives them so much more room to play with when its gone!

oh yes there are quite a few . There are some rare trees around the site was it was originally made as a private aboretorum ......unfortunately some trees have been damaged by yobs looking for 'fun'

Question is, are you for or against the development? If your against we look for objections, if not, then make sure that there is adequate planning gain for the area from the development.

I'm for it because the Grange and the Lodge will be restored and a huge empty piece of land where the factory used to be will be put into use and hopefully remove the vandalism but it needs to be done in sympathy with the wildlife that has made its home there .....

Then you raise those issues with the planning authority. Any wildlife groups in the area who will take this on board? The more the merrier. A petition - " save our badgers" type of thing. I'm sure you're doing all this anyway....

As far as I am aware there also has to be a bat survey

Generally bat surveys are visible on applications, so I'd doubt it was that.

Is it possible that the site has endangered species that would be covered by some non disclosure.
