Went to the plots this morning after this weeks round of howling winds and torrential rain.
The tunnel is shredded,literally, more panes out of the gh and the netting all ripped up despite being tied,pegged and tie wrapped to within an inch of its life, new hive moved (no bees in it luckily).
Repaired and replaced everything as best I could and with weary shoulders was about to lock up

....and what did I spy?

A little carrot seedling and all is well in my world

It is so disheartning isn't it? Blinking weather! We had a terrible hail storm down here yesterday and it's shredded my beetroot and swiss chard. I was furious. I hope that little carrot seedling is the first of many to pop up for you.

If its any comfort it's cold and raining ice down here too. The wind is even bending the pine trees over. At least we will have firewood to keep us warm I suppose.

I had gardening club yesterday and 4 of us sowed a little line of carrot seeds and another of radish - in the rain! And I got a big hug from one of them!

ETA - children in the gardening club, not carrots, radishes or raindrops!

I've taken a day off work today with the intention of potting on and sowing cucs in the heated prop having lost all of mine and after a years break due to the wedding. I'm fuming at this weather but I've decided to sod it and carry on. Not too sure what Mr BP will think of the drowned rat look when he gets in from work. We've had hail here this afternoon ! It's crazy
