I wouldn't sit and text or play games if I was a guest at someone's house or in a group of friends but D and I quite often sit next to each other on the sofa and play electronic Scrabble!

Maybe it's the only way the two of them can bond. Some blokes just don't do chat! Of course, with some women around they don't need to lol
I have sat on the lounge with my daughter, both fb'ing, and my cousin in another town goes 'You two are in the same room aren't you!' We cracked up because yes we were. And I did once ask if any of my friends were on fb with her could they tell her 'Mum said the dishwasher needs emptying' It's not that we don't talk in person tho. We don't stop most times! The internet is one of the places we can go where we aren't always interrupting each other!
I don't think it's good manners to talk on the phone or txt while at people's places tho. If I have to make a call or take one I always apologise for doing it. Usually if I'm expecting one of the kids to phone me I'll put it on silent/vibrate (just for fun) and explain to the other person that I may need to take a call and apologise up front.
I love to txt people tho - you can let them know something without having to have a whole conversation about it.......I usually txt the ex just before I go out of mobile phone range...........oh well one of the few cheap pleasures in my life!Ali

I have a mobile 'phone and consider it to be a very useful and handy gadget but I don't understand the obsession many people seem to have with them. Mine is not the latest or greatest and it's covered in scratches but quite frankly I don't care, it does what I need it to do. I'll replace it with another second-hand 'phone when it dies.Tried and Tested...but the results are inconclusive

You could get onto the internet with one of them new fangled gadgets tho.....just think you could be in the nursery trying to remember which type of plant or compost to buy and just log in here to find out!
I don't have a new fangled one, altho I might end up getting one as I do find it very handy to borrow someone else's occasionally. Got caught out with no accomodation once and a friend loaned me their phone (and then showed me how to use it!) and I could find, phone and pay for accom in minutes. It's also useful if you are trying to do too much and have friends who are the same, or when you can't find the kids in town. When I had a very noisy use the kids friends used to say "your mother is here" but now I have to phone them!Ali

It is much more annoying when people are walking along the street texting/reading emails and such, as they get in your way soo much and do not pay attention to where they are going.
Does have its up side though, on Monday two guys were doing exactly this, and walked straight smack bang into each other, wow did everyone around them crack up laughing, they are the moments to cherish!

See, now had you have had your phone, you could have recorded it, and potentially bagged yourself £250.

I can see why people might want to entertain themselves in the pub with their phones, but if you are going to do that, and only have 1 drink, why sit at the bar, potentially getting in the way of the paying customers?Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
