Temperamental gadgets!

The CD system in the kitchen refused to eject a CD a few months ago, or to play it or to do anything it was intended to do. So I swore at it, thumped it, turned it upside down and thumped it and nothing happened. The dismantling instructions on the web looked a step too far for my limited skills so I used it as a radio and kept trying to play/eject the CD at regular intervals with no luck.
This morning, I turn it on and the CD played and ejected! I'm so happy
Do you have problem gadgets that have healed themselves?

My venerable Kenwood Major can be a bit idiosyncratic about the different attachments - I can put the whisk attachment in and out of the slot all day, easy as anything, unless I actually want to use it to whisk egg whites or anything else. Then it won't have it.

My laptop often refuses to work, but especially if I need to transfer money on the internet. Or if I need to check something I've saved on it before I leave the house. Any time it's not important it works easily.

My mobile phone. Admittedly it's getting on a bit but since I switched to 02 sometimes the signal fails when I'm at home and I have to wander around waving it in the air. It's ok anywhere else. It also makes noises like I have incoming calls and texts when I haven't.

I acquired a gadget in 1975 and it's been predictably unpredictable from day one. Should have took it back really but I was young and optimistic at the time.

If it plays me up any more today might well consign it to the attic on a permanent basis.

Suppose so VC. Just wish I could employ it to do something useful for more than 2 minutes of each day. That would be an average of course because over a period of a year I'd be expecting 12 hours and 10 minutes in whatever time parcels I could get.

Other than that it takes up a lot of space and fuel consumption is high because you have to keep it plugged in all the time. Miss it if it packed up though. It's a bit habit forming.

And before anybody says anything I'm not talking about 2 minutes of what you lot are thinking about.
