Advice please I need a new mobile phone and do not get on with texting at all. Drives me bonkers and my replies are limited to OK or Ta!! Its time I moved on!! So, which is easier to use, a touchscreen or a QWERTY keyboard? Anything else I should consider when choosing a mobile?

I'd say get yourself down to a shop and have a go on a few.
I've gone from a HTC Desire to an iPhone, and whilst both use a touchscreen/QWERTY keyboard they work slightly differently, and it's taken me a little while to get used to.
LadyWayne recently converted from "old school" alpha-numeric (Nokia) to Smartphone, despite being staunchly against them, but even she was surprised how intuitive they are.A simple dude trying to grow veg. http://haywayne.blogspot.com/

I hated texting until I got my iPhone, now there's no stopping me. It's a QWERTY keyboard but on a touchscreen. Very easy to use and makes it simple to type properly, without resorting to txt spk.I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

Not sure if it's available for the iPhone, but on my HTC you could have an app that allowed you to drag your finger across the screen to the letters you wanted and it magically created the word...

I have a Nokia E5 smart phone with a propper qwerty keypad. it works very well as i use real words when texting.
I tried a friends touch screen but found it less user friendly.

I've an iphone and the texting on it does my nut in. Same on my ipad, sometimes touches arne't recognised, or I mis-type things etc.
That said, the buttons on screen are generally larger than QWERTY keyboards on phones.
Infact looking at my messages now, 90% of them have typos in.

Of course, if you turn your phone sideways to type, the buttons are larger. ;-)

I saw a teenager typing on a blackberry and she was lightning fast and didn't even look at the screen for most of the time. She must have been texting a lot to be that proficient. Is this a wasted talent?
Anyone know the average number of texts an hour a teenager sends? I asked one girl and she had sent 30 in 10 minutes?
