LadyWayne said the exact same thing pretty much. She opted for the iPhone 3S.

To be honest I think that the iPhones are over priced and unless you're using it all the time (and even then I'm not convinced) it would be very hard to justify the expense. I upgraded to a basic level Samsung a while ago which seems to work well although the battery life isn't that great.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I upgraded to a touch screen a couple of years ago and find it much easier for me to use. I hate predictive text as it always predicts the wrong word then texts take longer to do and i end up deleting the whole text its taken ages to try to do, out of frustration.

I eventually figured out how to turn it off and am now much happier.

I dont have a fancy iphone, mine is a nokia express touchscreen but it comes with a stylus so you can actually hand write texts on the screen- though it doesnt recognise joined up writing, so you have to write individual letters, or you can touch, via finger or stylus, the traditional keyboard.

It's adequate for my needs, i can access the internet through it, it has a camera and was a third of the price of an iphone.
Spelling errors are my area of expertise. Apologies if my jumbled up mind/words cause offence.

I thought a phone was for making eeeerrrr...................... phone calls

I could count the number of texts I have written on the fingers of my hands and they have all been one word. If anyone important texts to ask a question or make an appointment I reply...............................................ring. The rest I ignore knowing they will ring anyway.

You and I, Potty, live in the same time warp. If it wasn't for the fact that I can't read the numbers on the display because its so scratched I wouldn't be contemplating changing!

Technology has its use's like being able to access the vine, but its the way it can impinge on everything in my private life that I object to. Thats why my mobile is in a draw in the office turned off. Family and friends have my private land line number and can contact me that way. But even they know not to ring after 5pm on matters of business. 9am to 5pm Mon to Fri is business the rest is my time and to be honest I get worse with age.

My mobile is only on if I'm expecting a call. I carry it around (off) in case of emergency but that's it.

I keep mine with me as much as I can (has to be turned off at work). I have a Son and DIL that live in Reading and a Daughter, future SIL and beloved Daughters Pooch that live in Warrington. One Daughter still at home. I miss them and I suppose it's a very small apron string so I need it. Doesn't have to be high tech. Just for those random moments when you need to say hi and check they don't need me.

They don't. So I guess we did a good enough job. When we get together it's fun because we want to.

I wet once with my then partner for him to upgrade hs phone. While we were in the shop the bloke serving him asked me if I wanted to upgrade mine. I replied no, I didn't want a contract and I didn't use it much anyway. He asked me why not, didn't I have any friends....
I only just resisted smacking his head on his own desk....

My fruity 'phone allows me to inform the world, his wife and my family of my hobbitry; I rather like it.

I don't think I could go back to non qwerty. Touch screen is okay, I don't really miss the buttons. Helps me keep connected to various things. I wouldnt say I'm more tech savvy having got a fruity 'phone. It just makes some things easier.

My phone is mainly 'just a phone', I do text (never had a real problem with that. predictive or otherwise, it's easy to ruen Predictive on or off on this) and it will also take pictures, play music, and in theory will do internet, but that is dependant on the connection, and I am on a budget contract, which means internet is expensive, so I don't bother.
I don't use it for music, because the battery won't stand that (24 hours, including a couple of short calls or texts, or 12 hours including a long call), and not often for pictures because any but the simplest settiing takes ages to get organised.
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
