  • Help needed with email!

Hope someone knows how to cure this! Since Monday I've been trying to access my emails, (btinternet.com) but each time get as far as message 5, then message 6 times out the server. It's downloaded the same 5 messages every day since Monday, then it times out. I'm about ready to put a brick through the screen - there's 30 messages backed up and no way to access them.

    Anyone got any ideas?

Yes Zaz, that's what I thought, but can't imagine what. Just wish I could work out how to dump it or bypass it. And when I find out who sent it, I'm gonna rip their heads off and put it in their hands to play with!

edit@ Can't even email people to find out who, 'cos of course, I can't get the email replies!

That's brilliant VC! After a frantic scrabble around to find my yahoo password, which for some reason Norton security had not automatically saved, I've been able to checkand delete mail. There didn't seem to be anything extraordinarily long, but I've read /deleted most of it. A lot was junk anyway.

Thanks so much! I knew someone here would have the answer!

              Grrrrr!!

Same thing again today! Up pops a BT box - there is a problem with your email connection. (I KNOW!) Do you want BT to fix this? YES I DO! OK... then up pops another box to say the problem is fixed. HA! No it ain't!

SO.... restored the blessed pc back to an April restore point to see if anything had latched itself in without me knowing, but there had been no change. The only thing I'd done was download two plug-in updates for Firefox. I hadn't installed them though.

Anyway, hunted them out and deleted them and, touch wood, the email's OK again.

(Mutters darkly - we'll see tomorrow.....)
