    Hi

I am trying to spend as little money as possible and wondered what shortcuts you other grapes used.
I am growing sunflowers from hamster food and another which is unidentified as yet. No shoots yet.
I am thinking about a fruit bush from buying fruit to eat, but still thinking due to which one.

Fancy buying a packet of dried Butter Beans from Teco's and giving that a go!
Come to think of it a packet of mixed pulses should give some interesting results! How about mixed bird seed? Trill used to have cannabis seeds in it I believe!

Sunflower seeds from bird seed will be fine. As for fruit, I wouldn't try to grow a tree or bush from fruit seeds as they will take years and you can't guarantee what variety they will be (they tend not to come true to type). Pumpkins, melons etc can be grown from seed in fruit bought to eat, but again variety may be questionable. Tomatoes, chillies and peppers too. If you want seeds on the cheap try Aldi, Lidl and QD. Seeds are around 29p or 39p a packet.

Lidl and Aldi are expensive compared to Home Bargains .. 15p per packet - but a limited range.

          Hi

Ive also grown sweetcorn from the hamster food, I did buy a packet of sutten sweetcorn (ebay) but the seeds were hollow.
I am also trying dried peas!
Might see what I come across for the fruit, maybe a cutting. I am quite new so I have still got things like fence and greenhouse to sort out.
Other allotment chaps are quite good too.

          Many thanks..Tigerella

At an allotment shop, on allotments close to ours we get Kings seeds at half price!
The shop manages to subsidise the rents for there own site so everyone is a winner!

On a similar vein am looking forward with interest to see what "free" seeds come with the new Mag thats being advertised on this site. Not cheap at £8.50 and most prob wont be used this year but will buy anyway. Maybe we could start a review thread.
