Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Glad to say (disgustingly big smirk!) that I took early retirement last July. Me time's me own, ladies and gents. But you do need something to keep you going, don't you?Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

I do try and skive as much as I can! Mmmm not done much recently, must do some more!
Having said that I said to a friend last week - I'm not skiving, I'm dossing....she replied I'll put on your gravestone "Bernie was an excellent dosser, not a skiver!" LOL!!

Wish I had time to skive off on the vine at work, but we are too busy, with too few staff and little chance of much improvement short term! Mind you, prhaps one day when I get a bigger branch with more staff and can actually operate as a Manager instead of trying to be the Store Manager, and Sales assistant, and fitter, and cycle mechanic!Blessings

Believe me Snadger, you dont want to work in my store atm, today there were 4 of us in (1 texted in that he wasnt coming in cos he was hung over and stuck in Manchester, grr, wait till I see him tomorrow!), and at one time we had a lady turn up 1 1/2 hours late for an appointment for her hands free car kit fitting, which meant one member of staff was in her car in the car park for 2 hours, another fit turned up on time which meant I had to go out and fit a rear mounted cycle carrier at the same time (1/2 an hour later, so now 2 of us fitting in the car park), the third member of staff was bringing a bike delivery (67 bikes) in at the same time, leaving the cashier to run the store, serve customers on cycles (upstairs), audio / sat nav, parts and roofbars (all downstairs), cover the till and answer the phone!
Is it any wonder I got a migraine by 4pm! I finally got my 'lunch' at 430pm today, absolutely starving and all I could do was to take some ibuprofen!
Mind you, when I get the 2 folks who've applied for the deputy manager's job interviewed and in place it should get a bit easier!Blessings

Mrs D, you keep reminding me why my 'hobby job' after I retired first time around, which ended up with me being a manager at a B&Q superstore, ended up being a nightmare.
Only good thing was I got to run the gardening departments in the stores I was based at and you don't even have that benefit.TonyF, Dordogne 24220

It was my job that got me into gardening in the first place. I work with the elderly and not so elderly but disabled in their own homes. I only have a few clients so they're more like family as have been with them for years. On Thurs I cook lunch for a man who was an extremely keen kitchen gardener in his day. I just happen to mention to him that I always bought seeds and ended up giving them away. His eyes brightened up and before you could say "dig" he came over to my house and supervised while I dug a veggie patch. He taught me all about 'spits', how to dig and numerous other useful things. He is my gardening guru. In return for his kindness I now blame him completely for the fact that my poor husband and children never me as I'm out in the garden all hours and O/H has forked out for a new greehouse, raised beds etc and puts up with my all consuming love for growing veggies. Now John ( my gardening guru ) looks forwards to all my stories about growing veg and sometimes, mainly thanks to The Grapevine, I even tell him stuff that he doesn't already know. Apart from my family benefiting from the lovely veg it also means that I'm able to share my harvest with those that need it most and are unable to afford organically grown produce. It's a wonderful hobby isn't it?
