Nice idea Jules. Yes - you can plant out potted fruit trees at any time of the year. Just make sure you water it well/regularly through to winter.

My favourite cat of all time ( up til then anyway) was run over within 4 weeks of us moving here. Neo had an apple tree planted over him. That was 3 1/2 years ago and it looks like this will be the first year we get apples from his tree.
Broke my heart for weeks when we lost him.

Oh so sorry to hear that Jules. It does seem unfair when you put so much time, money, and love into animals and then have a run of bad luck. Our dog Lucky is called lucky because the dog before him died, and we lost a cat and a calf around the same time. My daughter used to say 'All our animals die' in a voice of doom after that. But I can say that we've had many lovely years with animals since.
You've really had a hard time lately.

You have my total sympathy both for the loss of Mousey and also for your frustration. I have posted some of my thoughts on veterinarians previously and as I try to stick to plants when I'm here I won't go over it again. Some part of the problem is they are even more badly trained that doctors to give you bad news or even tell you the truth. THEN there's pet insurance which means that they don't really think about the cost and if you don't have insurance you feel really bad raisung costs when your animal is there ill. Enough from me just hugs.

I am so sorry Jules - I know all too well how it feels to lose beloved cats. I hope the cherry tree reminds you of a lovely pet and it grows well for you. Hugs from me and Maisie x

We've buried him now. Quiet corner behind the chicken house (no chooks can get to the corner) and we planted our cherry tree over him. I expect great things from that tree next year.

                              Chaps,

Thank you all sooooo much for the thoughts, hugs & wishes. They really count.

Not really looking forward to going to bed tonight. There's a BIG Mousey-shaped hole on my duvet.

One of our other furboys, Timothy, has been everywhere today yelling for his buddy (I think they were gay, it was embarrassing) He can't understand why Mousey isn't on the bed where he left him. Who's he going to tell all about his adventures now? Who's going to lick his wounds inflicted by the local tomcats? (never try to pick up a hot date in straight neighbourhood - they're all chasing the sex kittens and you're chasing them)

Don't worry Jules - not today, maybe not tomorrow - but when the time in right a new little friend for both you and Timothy will find their way into your lives to enjoy what is an obviously caring home.
