just wanted to add my bit to this thread (bound to stop it in its tracks). I've been on here for a while and have found it really friendly and easy to use and the mods are great. Am on a sewing one which isnt half as good and a two health related ones (all women) which are really brilliant too but this is still my favourite .

I used to really enjoy the crafting forum I was a member of. I thought it was a great place to run creative ideas past like-minded people. And then I got to meet the like-minded peeps at my craft fairs and discovered everything I had ever made and put photos on the forum had been copied. It was most discouraging, so I stopped going there and closed my membership.

And, FFS, there's another HUGE fight on the Diabetic forum this evening......grow up chaps, huh? Please?

From what I've seen in the few months since I've joined up, there's very little interference by moderators....and very little need for it.

I'm on one other forum (for home-brewing) and that's just as nice, although people get very passionate about their beer, especially if they've sampled a bit too much of it whilst posting!!!

On both that one and this, we all have that common enthusiasm and passion for our pastime. To me, you lot are just like the old boys down the lottie - full of suggestions and assistance - only there's a lot more of you on here!!

[sniffs] getting emotional now.... (where's my next bottle of homebrew.........)

I posted on the rant thread the other day about the sheer nastiness of another forum I had visited, I dont understand why folks have to be like that

Some of us quite enjoy the sunny sheltered spot on the south wall of this walled garden. I have no desire to know what goes on outside it, thank you.

Hafta agree with the soppy stuff, I'm afraid. I became rapidly disenchanted with the last couple of forums I joined - one of them without even posting! But I've felt very welcome here, and there's always good information and good giggles to be had.

I think it shouldn't be ignored nor under-rated, it is the sensible yet firm moderating that happens on the GYO forum that keeps it an overall friendly place to be!
