Passport query?

I have a forthcoming trip to Antwerp and have just noticed my passport expired in January - do I need a passport for a European country?

Someone had said you can get by with a driving licence for European countries nowadays.

I think you'd be ok on the way out. Getting back in might be an issue!

Nope - you need a certified ID document if you are from a Schengen country - but we opted out of Schengen.

Isn't it if you are just doing internal flights that you can get away with the picture style drivers license, rather than when going abroad.

My niece had to fly to Glasgow from Birmingham for work a few years ago and she had to have a passport but that may have been just the airline.

I don't think they can insist on it as you are not actually leaving the country.
