they kinda look a little like mountain ash or hawthorne i will still collect and post before i consume one

Do you listen to a word I say??? Where are the leaves?? And if its a cluster of berries its better to show us the cluster to identify

ha there are no leaves its bare branches with berries!! and there dotted all over no clusters

Were there thorns?
And don't eat them as there are little hairs inside the seeds that will irritate you - just as I'm doing

You can make nice jelly with them though....!! Esp the big gelder rose ones.....

But Guelder rose is a completely different kettle of berries Guelder-rose Nothing to do with Rosehips at all

So. Potentially daft question, but how do you lot forage for things such as blackberries/sloes which are really thorny? I tend to wear long sleeves and just go for it, but I'm covered in scratches

Wondering if there's a trick I'm missing.

Also a syrup which goes very well with a mug of hot water and a spoonful of elderberry jam to soothe and ease a winter cold. A little honey to sweeten if needed and you have a drink which knocks any over the counter cure into a tin hat.
