  • Is anyone else struggling?

To get out into the garden/lottie in this weather? I sure am

I can visibly see the grass growing, the blackfly multiplying and having a party, the roses needing dead-heading and the BBQ equipment going rusty.

On a positive note, I have bought a pile of new summer clothes, so it'll be here very shortly - no really, it will

    *raises hand*

I have plants that need feeding, chillies that need picking, slugs that need salting (no more Mr Nice Guy here), potatoes that need emptying, seeds that need sowing and seedlings that need thinning.

I WILL get out today and sort it out!

My neighbours are on their plot weeding again today.
I was on mine yesterday. I'm planning to go on again today mostly for a mooch but I think the biggest job is going to be strimming again.

We are in the amazingly fortunate position of living close to our plots though so if it does start raining home isn't a long walk away.

We've got torrential rain here today - don't think I'll be able to do much of anything

Haven't been able to play with my new Hozelock yet and I've had it for three weeks and I've just found lily beetles so as the sun is shining hopefully for the next half an hour or so, I'm on a killing mission.

Incredibly heavy rainshowers here - so sun one minute and rain the next.

Off to pick BLACKCURRANTS during the next sunny spell!!
If the river hasn't reached the top of your step, DON'T PANIC!

Surely blackcurrants won't be ready yet

I have been really struggling. The weather has been atrocious. Thunderstorms and more rain here again today. Even walking up to the greenhouse has been an effort cos I just know that I will find more nibbled plants. As for the lottie, it's a quagmire and I'm on sandy soil.

Yup. It largely has to do with being ill and also the weather being so ruddy inconsistant. When it's raining and windy i just can't be assed to get out there or don't feel up to it amyway. On the rare sunny or dry days i often don't feel well enough but try to push myself or nowt gets done at all.

                    Erm.... about the blackcurrants.....

I have enough for a large pie!

Sooooo excited - haven't had blackcurrants for years. But you are right, the two bushes I picked from get a great deal of sun - the other 6 bushes are no where near ready.

Mine almost ready, too, I love blackcurrants. The soft fruit so far in this part of the world seems to have come through well. Had good crop of strawberries, raspberries starting to crop (had decent half punnet 2 days ago) and masses of redcurrants too. Not feeling too smug, though, french beans, squash, peppers, melons, aubergines all struggling.

Would have been great to do things here in between the rain except it's been wall to wall rain all day. Thankfully now stopped and I'll get my brassicas planted without needing to water them in.

Piskie, how are the plots onthe base doing. Any recent pics?

They are doing really well, I have been remiss at updating the blog, I will get onto that this coming week. Pretty much all plots are being worked on, we have a couple plots where people have 'lost interest' and the inevitable plots where holders on deployment.

I am still amazed and thrilled with how it all turned out
