  • Artificial grass

I caught a couple of minutes of the titchmarshes new ground force type programme.

I was quite surprised that they fitted this stuff, though I thought it looked quite good down, from a distance. It didn't look Japanese to me though, is he losing his touch?

Why is it that these shows today, the sos one is the same, that all the work is now undertaken for the seriously ill, when did our judgement change on who was worthy?

Attracts more viewers I think. Funny you should mention the artificial grass. Himself saw some advertised this week and was raving about it because it wouldn't need to be cut. I wouldn't mind, but my son cuts it for me, Himself hasn't done it for years.

I've just remembered, I recorded that programme. Was it a tear jerker Mikey? Don't think I'll watch it if it was.

I bet it doesn't feel the same under your toes. And what's the point of a lawn without a few flowers in it? Or being able to watch the bumblebee who makes her home there...

No not really, to be honest I thought the result was a little uninspiring if I'm honest, I've always liked the dulcet tones of the Titchmarsh, but I don't think series as yet is a positive addition to his gardening collection.

I can see the advantage of artificial grass, and its definitely far more realistic these days, last Christmas I purchased my first artificial tree, and while I missed the smell of pine needle, it was far more practical and longer standing.

I think aslong as the colour can stay constant and that it can fool people from about 10 feet, I would consider it for the front garden when I come to revamping it. Its one of the banes of my life having to mow a patch which takes longer to get the mower out than it does to cut it. I'd much rather be using my limited spare time more wisely on other gardening projects.

I'd just scrap the lawn and put in more plants

You don't have to weed artificial grass though...

It def has its place. My 'lawn' is only about 3-4ft wide sections around a central bed (coz I wanted more veggies!!). Given that I have nowhere to put a mower and cant carry gravel/bark the distance to my house it was perfect. Sadly I had to go for the cheap one so it doesnt look realistic but it does look nice and cheerful!
Its also great for roof gardens/balconies, busy folk and the less abled. Also being water permeable its better then covering everything in paving slabs.....and might just encourage people to do abit more gardening when they see how nice it looks!!

But you may need a Hoover Mower, on the long pile setting, to keep it clean!

Artificial grass, a few artificial trees, put in an assortment of artificial flowers and hay presto a dream come true.

Me thinks not. More like a nightmare.
Sometimes you just have to scratch that itch and get dirt under your finger nails.

That's MikeyWills for you! He probably has a plastic allotment, with artificial veggies. Lets face it, have you heard him moaning about slugs this year? .... and if he did it would be because one had been stepped on and it couldn't be glued back together!.
