Wow Andromeda - that is such a shocking attitude for the council worker to take - and interfering with the good neigbourliness that everyone agrees is a good idea. Don't get me wrong - there are some very nasty people out there who will readily prey on vulnerable people whether they are neighbours or not. However that is not overcome by telling decent people to back off!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

You don't need ministers for different age groups and genders etc, what you do need is a decent and diverse mix of people in government in the first place be that different ages, classes (school background even!), race, gender etc etc. You always get a much better way forward if you get a more balanced approach. Unfortunately it's mainly power crazed whatevers that want to rule the country and they are usually the last people who we should let lose on it.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

No I think the problem we have today is that politics is a subject you can take at college, and choose as a career. In times gone by it was really considered a vocation, a calling, which was why you had a more diverse elected house.

These days if you say a word out of turn you are mowed down by the media, I thought we wanted our elected members to have an opinion of their own?

Unfortunately I can't see us getting back to a more diverse house, as the candidates being put forward by parties are all very much cut from the same cloth.

        Excluding Boris or course.

I would have ignored that interfering busybody and let them call the police. I doubt that they would have rushed to her assistance - and that is not a slight on the police - just on the pettiness of the complaint.

The teapot says "the two best cures" - if tea is one, what is the other? And what was the problem in the first place?
No problem chook, I just thought you could do with your very own Mrs Doyle. Obviously the second cure is chocolate!

Unfortunately clearing a snowy path before frost can actually create far more risk, unless of course you are also gritting it, and that only works down to temps of about minus 10.

Personally, I'd prefer my teapot full of red wine: with chocolate on the side!
Who on earth thinks that old bats like wot I is need cups of tea to get by

Agreed (for once!!) but going shopping for others who can't get out is inappropriate behaviour?

But my Novembers are generally warm, bit like February and March, when we have glorious sunshine and need to put the factor 50 on.

I have just worked out why they want a minister for older people..... its the same reason as they appointed a minister for drought.. as soon as he started the drought ended.... maybe that what they want... the dimise of we older ones. After all, we are the biggest carriers of aids... hearing aids, walking aids... seeing aids.....
