You can try just pumping up tomorrow this will not make the situation any worse in fact it can only improve it. Then pick up a bike inner tube if you need one.

That stuffs it I am afraid fitting a new expansion vessel is a job for an engineer, system drain down etc.

Sorry but we did try and at least now you know what your facing.

Really....can't i buy one and fit it myself?

It seems very simple to disconnect the hose and hook a new vessel back up, i had to take this one out to get to the valve (still connected to the hose obviously!)

Sorry I didn't know how handy you obviously are. Want a job?

OK lets go for it. First you will have to drain the system but if you already have the vessel out this will not be a problem for you. Just turn of the electrics to the boiler find a drain cock attach hose open drain cock and then open all the air vents on the upstairs rads. When everything as finnished draining close all air cocks and the drain, this will help prevent any water discharge when you disconnect the hose. Have a bucket ready to take any surplus water and using new washers re-attach the hose. Pressure up to check for leaks then vent out your rads.

I got the price of the internet google warmflow u70he expansion vessel its about 4 or 5 hits down and they have them in stock.

A thought cross's my mind. I don't how long you have had the problem but constantly topping up the system pressure introduces new oxygenated water into the system this can cause corrosion, you may consider nipping to your local plumbers merchant and getting a can of self injecting inhibitor and add this to the system through a radiator as you fill up.

I'm not that handy....but your guidance and clear instructions are fab !!

I'd be chuffed to bits if i could do this....i like to know how things work and how to fix them.

Slightly lost already though....what's a drain cock?

The link in my earlier post...is that vessel suitable?

BTW.....I have drainage rods and like unblocking drains.....you think i'm odd now don't you!!

That looks to be the correct vessel.

Drain cocks are hard to describe if you google 15mm drain valve you will see an E Bay listing where they have pics. There may be one on the boiler that would be very handy if not look at low points on the radiator pipework.

Drain rods Odd! noooo every lady should have a set.

I have a set of drain rods too But I wouldn't have the confidence to change the expansion vessel - so good on you both!!! Hope it all goes smoothly for you

Aaah in that case i know what a drain cock is I think....it's the little square shaped valve thing that sticks out from underneath at the bottom corner of the rads.

Do i need a special tool to open them or will a spanner/pliers do it?

Once the boiler is switched off do I drain each rad one at a time...they won't refill will they? (can picture me constantly draining rads and never getting anywhere!!)

Will check the instruction manual thingy to see if there is a drain cock on the boiler.

I'll hopefully get the unit for Friday or Monday latest...will let you know before I start....hopefully you'll be about if i get stuck!!

If it's ok i'll keep asking questions as i think of them just so i'm completely clear about the whole thing.

I'm looking forward to this.....thanks so, so much for all you support.

                                Top man!!!
