Any plumbers out there?

This is what I think I need to do.....

1. Turn off at mains.
2. Turn off isolations levers 1/4 turn to off.
3 Attach garden hose to drain cock.
4. Turn drain cock to drain boiler.
5. Wait for boiler to drain....how long should this take?
6. Remove expansion vessel by unscrewing the 2 sliver hose nuts and the big nut from the pressure gauge.
7. Replace expansion vessel with new one.
8. Apply plumbers tape to nuts and re-connect all 3.
9. Fill boiler to 1 bar.
10.Turn on isolation levers.
11. Switch on mains

12.....Pray!

I'll pray with you peanut!! I'm tempted to look at my boiler and see if I can find the equivalent bits to yours. I won't (look) of course but I do like to be tempted now and then

Your list looks good to me.

Before you start take a pic of the expansion vessel in situ including the large nut and post it here please I just want to make sure your going to do the right thing.

I think the hose connector is too large and too small...i've got a couple of connectors but neither fit.

The drain cock is threaded, none of my hosepipe connectors are threaded.

So my next thought is to use some kind of gripper on the flexi hoses to stop the water flow whilst I undo the nuts?

No do not compress the hose's it will ruin them. That looks like a standard 1/2 BSP drain cock to me it should be ribbed not threaded. Turn your hose pipe round and use the end without connectors it should be a tight push fit if its to tight don't forget you can warm it with boiling water to push it on.
