Ok...muppet here....didn't think of taking the connectors off!!

      • It will take some time as there is no airway into the boiler to allow the water to flow freely. That type of drain cock you have can be wound out until it stops just make sure the large round screw jobbie around the centre pin does not come unscrewed as you turn the centre pin.

            • Can you open the drain any further as I say its what we call a glanded cock. Therefore as long as the gland nut (the larger nut around the centre spindle is tight you cannot wind it out to far.

                      • Is it a case of:

                        1. Switching on at mains
                        2. Opening isolation valves
                        3. Topping up system to 1 bar

                        • Great work do not turn on the electric till last. Next as you worked out for yourself pressure up slowly to 1 bar, if everything is water tight go up to 11/2 bar. then open the valve to the heating system.

                          Then let me know

                          • I don't understand what's happening. I'm using the filling loop to top up the pressure to 1 bar as usual, i can hear water but as soon as I turn the filling valve off the pressure instantly drops back to 0 bar.

                            Help!

                            • If it's a case of it will do it but slowly....roughly how long should it take?

I'm waiting for a disaster and very nervous!!

                              • If there was going to be a disaster it would show where you are.

What I think is happening is that now you have a new expansion vessel fitted the dry side is taking up the pressure as it should. Where as before the pressure would rise almost instantly as there was no air volume to take up the excess.

Nip out side and make sure nothing is coming from the blow off pipe and then carry on filling.
