I'm back.....bright eyed and bushy tailed!

On Saturday afternoon I decided to tackle the leak....again.

Removed the vessel and all the gunk i'd previously applied, only to discover that i'd applied most of it the wrong place anyway.

I undid the connections easliy, wound with quite a lot of PTFE, did it once and it wouldn't line up properly so undid everything again, re-wound with more PTFE, decided to start with the front at the back and this time it ended up facing the right way.

Then I noticed the bracket still sitting on the sofa. .....I wasn't convinced I had enough tape to re do it all so I thought sod it....I re-attached the flexi hoses.....positioned the vessel back in the boiler, only now it is sat on a little earthenware dish instead of being held by the bracket.

I then switched it all back on, slowly re-pressurised the system to 1 bar, turned the hot water on and waited.....

    and waited....

The low pressure light stayed on until Sunday, despite a presure reading of 1 bar and over when on, so I topped it up just enough for the light to go off.

It's now Monday morning and the pressure has remained stable at 1.6 when on and a fraction under 1 bar first thing when it's been off all night. Low pressure light is on first thing but goes off on it's own when the water is turned on.

    But the most important thing....

IT IS NOT LEAKING ANYMORE - I HAVE FIXED IT!! Hoorah!!!

So.....next job on the list is the cleanser....can I wait till it's a little cooler? As I think you said the heating needs to be on for an hour a day....

    • Well done you, all on your own to.

The low pressure light would appear to be faulty, its coming on when the pressure is correct. No need to do anything about it providing the boiler is working.

As to the cleanser, yes the central heating need to be switched on to circulate the water for it to work and of course the weather has just warmed up. To save on oil I would wait a while be for dosing the system.

      Once again well done you.

      • Thank you

Don't suppose you can tell me how to fix the faulty low pressure light?....It's spoiling the look of my newly fixed boiler...and really annoying me, it stayed on today when the pressure was at 1.6 bar....that's just silly!

        • It is difficult without the wiring diagrams and boiler instructions.

I suspect it is the water pressure sensor that has gone down and this is showing a fault even if there isn't one.

If you have the technical instructions, you should be able to identify the sensor, there should even be instructions on how to change it.

Let me know what paperwork you have.

            • Is there a spare parts list and does it identify the water pressure sensor?

              • To give you some idea what you are looking for, the sensor will be quite small usually no more than 1/2 inch across usually less. It will be screwed into a fitting on a water way within the boiler and will have two wires going to it.

                • There is a parts list but it doesn't list any kind of sensor.

                  • No it doesn't I have found the instructions on line they are about the same standard as the bladdy boiler. Give me a few minutes whilst I go through them.

What colour light keeps coming on?

                          • So have I, found a yellow light but not quite sure yet as to what advice to give as the instructions both user and technical are as clear as mud.

Give me till tomorrow and I will get back to you.

                              • Hi its that man again.

Right I have drawn down the wiring diagrams for your boiler, nowhere is there mentioned a orange light. How ever when on the schematic diagram the lock out light is shown as green but on the full wiring diagram its shown as red this may be understandable.

On page 32 there is a small seperate drawing showing the installation of low pressure switch as an 'add on'. If this switch operated it would light the yellow reset light however if the boiler limit thermostat operated this would also light the same light.

I am afraid you would need a good multi-meter and the knowledge of how to use it to safely sort this one out. The kit would probably cost more than getting in an OFTEC guy to sort it for you.

If you know a competant electrician he would be able to help.
