I have most of HFW s books which I have found quirky and original, but as the River Cottage juggernaut rolled onto our screens last night, I found it all a bit tired and spent. Three z list celebs cooking and looking amazed as they boil some nettles. I expected moore from HFW but the fame bug has struck I guess. Shame.

TBH I watched some of it purely & simply because Felicity Kendall was in it (sad old bloke I know ),I find Nigel Slater far more interesting as a cook & the short program time suits my attention span.

I completely agree, it felt as if the programme was constructed due to the fact those involved were short of cash...

Although if I had the chance of making money through running an easy, quick TV show I know I would...

I like watching the older episodes of River Cottage, although I didn't catch it last night.

River Cottage used to be a really good TV program but its been going down hill for a few seasons IMHO. Its just another cookery program now. I'll not be watching this year ether sorry HFW(get back to basics).

I really enjoyed it. However, I can't believe the difference between Felicity Kendall's hands (old with brown spots) and face (smooth as a baby's bum!) - it rather distracted us from the cooking bits.

I don't agree that the celebs cash position is likely to be as dire as you make out. They got air time on a cookery programme with a steady following and their agents probably set it all up.

I enjoyed ashes to ashes and life on mars very much. It was interesting to see the actors chemistry together in a different environment.

Never fancied felicity myself..... But keely hawes......!

You may be surprised, some of them seem to go bankrupt quite often. Hey, if it can happen to Greece it can happen to anyone!

At the risk of repeating myself - I didn't think much to it really. Shame because I like Philip Glenister and Keeley Hawes. Never have liked Felicity Kendall (sorry BB) and I much preferred Margot Leadbeater's character in The Good Life.

No need to apologise Flo,strangely I agree that Margot was the better character part (but she never got awarded "Rear of the Year" ) . I was dissapointed that Felicity Kendall has deemed it necessary to resort to hair dye & a dire colour at that
