Not sure ....I've never really done the close/best friends thing.....the more people you let in the more people can hurt you, this has always been my experience so I tend to stick to a couple of people I keep in touch with now and again on the phone.

I do sometimes think it must be nice to have people to talk to and share stuff with, laugh with etc....maybe one day.

You know who your friends are when your relationship goes belly up. My "so called" friends have not been in touch for over 12 months.............

Me too - but sometimes friends come along without permission and without so much as a by your leave, there's someone else there wanting to chat and have coffee. It's great.

I moved away from all my friends in 1997 and lummox when I needed them they were just too far away - I lived in Cambs for a few years and it was so boring there - I used to drive down to Kent every weekend just to see them. I could have done with a mate round there and now [since moving away and coming on the Vine] I know loads of people in Cambs. Typical isn't it!
