This is a forum. On a forum, you will get people who agree or disagree with your posts. Learn to put up with it, and stop complaining about that aspect of it.
You use the word 'Conversely' but you seem to be in general agreement. I'm not actually fussed about sport myself, and football, especially, is abominable. What is frustrating is not whether someone agrees or disagrees (Absolutely no problem with that, who could have?) but the need to react instantly and thoughtlessly. Thankfully, almost everyone here is not like that which is why I enjoy this forum so much.Last edited by Kestrel; 29-07-2012, 07:05 AM.Where there's muck, there's brassicas

Yes, you appear to be correct, and I reserve the right to grasp completely the wrong end of any stick that is waved in front of me
What I said, the last bit anyway, still stands, but you deserve my wholehearted apologies for grasping that stick, and flinging it about with gay abandon

On an Olympic thing, watched quite a lot of the ceremony but gave up about M when fatigue too over and watched the remainder at double speed until the lighting of the flame (when I went back to normal speed) yesterday morning. Quickly turned off afterwards when I realised that an ageing Beetle was about to embarrass himself . I found the ceremony to be fine, thought the Mr Bean bit went on a bit long and felt that there was almost certainly a lot I missed from the performance bit at the start because so much was going on, particularly the early bit with the fields etc being turned into industrial wastelands. Better commentators would have helped but Hazel Irvine and Trevor Nelson didn't seem to have a clue what was happening. Thankfully Huw Edwards was far better. The way things moved was very good and I enjoyed the music and NHS sections very much but thought some of the chronological order was iffy, why did the Beetles turn up during the industrial revolution? Quite enjoyed testing my geography and think there were about 4 countries I'd never heard of as well as several I couldn't find on a map . Thought the queen was embarrassing how little attention she paid the athletes, if she really had that little interest (well maybe she had dirt to pick out her nails.........) then she could have made an excuse (age maybe?) and sent all the younger ones along, all other heads of state clapped and cheered when she couldn't be bothered to even smile. A real let down, she was happy enough when it was jubilee stuff etc about her. I'm not anti royal (or pro to be honest) but felt it was rather bad. Felt a bit sorry for team GB having to wear what were one of the worst outfits in the event too - that gold wasn't a good look! Loved how excited most of them looked and like others thought that it was a great touch to have the up and coming athletes lighting the torch although was somewhat concerned how they'd move it somewhere out the way for the rest of the games......

I'm very annoyed with the empty seats! I really wanted to go to the swimming with the family, given that I spend £100 a month on club fees, and my son is a faster swimmer than some of the non-seeded entrants! Ho hum, he needs to swim faster next time for Rio.
They should have 2 new sports for the Olympics that we would win by miles. Moaning and queuing.Last edited by Capsid; 29-07-2012, 06:04 PM.

Leaving aside the cost of the whole olympics, don't you all think its a great show case for the U.K. Also the ammount of money visitors will spend while they are there.
Be proud of the whole staging operation.
I will watch as much of the events as possible. I watched the opening ceremony and thought it was great.

And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Also, I will stoutly defend your right to grasp any end of whichever stick you may wish to flail in any manner.
