Hmmmmm so if we have 1 hour watching grass grow,1 hour watching paint dry & 1 hour watching dust settle (on household furniture/appliances) there is deffo no need to suffer an over priced extravaganza

TBH I've spent the last hour trying to assemble a new vacuum cleaner! I can't even tighten up the first 2 screws. I think I'l go back to watching the dust accumulate!
Just seen the trailer for the Paralympics on C4, excellent.
I know what I'll be watching
Now that will be about courage and strength.
I noticed this the other day, my first thought was why would you consider changing your nationality in order to compete. Then I looked into it in a bit more detail and it seems that he's been left out because it was felt he was unlikely to medal (his times rank him 5th in the world, even after injury). If that's true I think its appalling, if the same criteria was made on our able bodied athletes we would have a very small team.

Firstly (would post this on the moan thread but am here at the moment....) medal is not a verb and secondly I think it is the same selection criteria for able bodied athletes.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Not sure if this is a pop at my grammar Alison, but 'to medal' is in common usage in this manner.
If you are correct and athletes are not allowed to enter without a chance of winning a medal, why have team GB allowed any male 100m entrants. Based on this years performances Adam Gemili is team GB's fastest, and he would finish 28th. Can you still tell me the criteria is the same?
I have no axe to grind, but don't understand why we wouldn't have a full compliment of athletes in every event irrespective of their chances of winning a medal.
