  • Cornwall in September

There is a strong possibility we'll be holidaying in Cornwall (near Mevagissey) in September...

I've already got the Eden Project and Heligan Gardens on my list to visit...

I've found a couple of kennels that will take the Boxers for day boarding so we can do the non-dog attractions.

What else is good to do in the area (with or without dogs)?

We stayed in Praa Sands at the end of September beginning of October, in that short Indian summer. It was fab, even though we got two punctures in three days.....

.....day trips to Scilly are good. We took the ferry as it was cheaper than the chopper, but it takes a fair chunk out of your day. Tresco was lovely even in grey murky mist.

Coffee. Garden. Coffee. Does a good morning need anything else?

If you are into your history and legends you can't beat Tintagel on the north coast.

It can be a bit windswept so you really need a nice day, but we always visit whenever we are in the area.

By coincidence we will be in North Devon in mid Sept, so we might see you there

Boat trip from Padstein, then fish and chips from Ricks.
                        Cheaper in Falmouth though.

Drive down to the Lizard and have ice cream in Coverack.

                        Food tour of Cornwall?

Always worth a visit to Port Issac where they film Doc Martin.
Park on the slipway but make sure you know the time of the tides.

Lots of nice pubs and cafes that do cream teas.

You can walk up past the house they use for the outside of the surgery in Doc Martin and nice walk along cliff path with dogs.

Get the tide times right and you can walk from Summerleas Beach in Bude all the way up to the Duck Pool, though my friend and I usually come off the beach at Northcote Mouth and pay avisitto Margarets Tea Caravan for a cuppa - and possibly apiece of home made cake. Her tea garden is dog friendlyand she gives out free gravy bones to all her canine customers.
If you're there on a Saturday look out for a dubious looking pair of harridans with a Golden Retriever and an Alsakan Malamute - that'll be us!!!
Boscastle is another North Coast Village well worth a visit - try walking UP river from the car-park - the dogs will enjoy it much more that going down to the harbour, and if you happen to see.......
