Calendula (pot marigold) is good for insect bites and it's easy to make your own cream too.

Midges hate the smell of basil, I grow extra and crush some leaves and scatter them around our patio and it keeps them away. If you don't mind the smell you can crush some leaves and rub it on your skin, my mum even puts a sprig in her hair.

As for that bite that left the large hard wound, I had one like that a few years ago, it was horrible but I never did find out what kind of insect was responsible.

Be careful everyone, I've just had to take my mum to hospital with an infected bite. She is now on antibiotics/antihistamine for a locked elbow.

The blisters on my hand are a mystery: anyone have any ideas what it is? It's not a sting or a bite, doesn't itch or anything (I can't feel them at all) but I've had some kind of reaction to something
I had some of these a couple of years ago. The blisters swelled up really tight before I popped them. I've still got the scars! No idea if mine were weeding related or not. Will note my activity if it happens again!

You're welcome. Hope it has worked and the blisters have gone
We are still dousing. I splatted a mosquito on our kitchen wall the other day. I have never seen them in our house before and it was definitely a mozzie.

Apparently it's a phenomenal year for mosquitoes: they love all the wet weather we've had. I've got some monster ones hanging round the water butts, and got 6 bites yesterday

Today I made a mozzie trap, and have got lots in it already
