My favorites really depend on my mood at the time, and i think that they should be split into genres - after all, how can you compare a comedy with a horror?

    So -

    Favorite Comedy films

    1. Life of Brian
    2. Blues Brothers (the original)
    3. Monty Python and the Holy Grail

    Favorite action films.

    1. Apocalypse Now
    2. Mission Impossible I
    3. Hard to Kill

    Favorite Martial Arts Film

    1. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
    2. Kung Fu Hustle
    3. Hard Boiled

    Favorite Sci-Fi

    1. 2001 - A Space Odddesy
    2. Star Wars
    3. Blade Runner (the original with the cheesy voice over)

    Favorite Fantasy

    1. Lord of the Rings (all or any of them)
    2. Beowulf (the computer animated one with Angelina Jolie and Ray Winstone voicing the main characters)
    3. The 13th Warrior

    Favorite Horror

    1. Near Dark
    2. John Carpenter's Vampires
    3. The Thing (The original with Kurt Russell)

It is really hard to pick only three per category, there are so many other great films that I could have chosen like The One, Dark Star, Dirty Harry, Close Encounters, Independence Day, Men in Black, Matrix I or III (not II ).

Only two that I can think of that I would watch again are Terminator and Ghost.
