giant orange slugs

Hi was not sure where to put this so please move if not in the right place. This year I have had a plague of giant, as in really huge, orange slugs in the veggie patch. Apparently they are all over the SE England. I remove them by hand but they do alot of damage. Has anyone else had them and does anyone know if they are deterred by copper tape?

They are up north too... i spiked 3 this morning all munching the tattie tops.

I seem to remember it's the little ones that are the worsed culprits. The bigguns apparently feed on decaying matter.

They really are huge. Apparently from Spain?? and sweeping through the country?The small ones are nothing compared to these. Does anyone know if they can be halted by copper rings?

I seem to have extra large radioactive ones here! At the moment there are three on the fence trying to work out how to trapeze onto the bird feeder which has fresh grain in it. Another one has figured out that there is a rose leaf closer, but it is a bit heavy and the leaf has bent down.

I have them too.. I just test to see if the people from Brussels have changed the laws on gravity yet by launching them as far as I can, and seeing if they have been taught to land without injury. They usually make a nice mess of the road, or the birds get a cheap meal!

I didn't bother to take pictures (think my plot lodgers have all gone now).. I can tell you that if they had been any bigger I would have expected them to have broken out in acne!

No photos, if you have got them you would know about it. They are so huge a birs would not be able to eat them

these are the mafia slugs i call them look absolutely revolting, they fly quite well though,

As for copper tape, as with all slugs it may put some of them off but not a very determined lil blighter

I have them too, threw a couple to the chooks who normally love a tasty slug and they ran off squawking in the other direction, terrified of them! Was quite funny.

not quite slugs but i seem to have an influx of mountaineering snails! I must have picked off at least 20 of the very fat lil b@@@@@s from around the tops of my bean canes yesterday. The girls had a lovely time breaking into them!
