What a great man- and an internationally-renowned arboriculturalist too!

I grew up not far from Jodrell Bank Observatory- (lots of happy and inspiring memories)

Good age though- he's seen a few descoveries in science during his life!

He had a few words to say to 'our class' on a school trip to Jodrell Bank. Must be about 54- 55 years ago now ! ! !

Got me interested in the stars and planets.

You lucky thing. I grew up in North Staffs and would have loved a trip to Jodrell Bank to see the 'Lovell' telescope.

Aw I've only just seen this. Very sad news. Jordrell bank is a great place to visit. The gardens are so peaceful there. RIP Sir Lovell.
