  • Counting blessings . Received a photo album from my daughter with pics of her two little uns. Eldest will be six on Thursday but was only 2lbs 10ozs at birth. He gave us the hairiest six weeks. Daughter was really unwell at time as well having suffered from pre-eclampsia which progressed into the Hellp syndrome. Her wee girl was two earlier this month and was about a pound heavier and of course we knew a bit more about the drill with premie babies with her but daughter was really ill again. Anyway, both kids are absolutely perfect although both small for age and doing really well. Grandsontells me I'm the bestest Granda in the world which give a Granda a great feeling.

        • Finishing dinner and feeling stuffed. Now to walk it off up the garden and get those chooks into bed. I then have two hours for nothing before visiting mum with a picnic

            • Merry Christmas All - Have just returned from my daughter's where we had a great day with plenty to eat and drink and watched the grandkids unwrap their presents and play with them for hours - took the dog for a walk about 1400 and weather was so nice that I wa tempted to nip up to the allotment but put it off till tomorrow

              • Seeing all my family at once - 4 generations, 18 in total, ages between 92 and 5, all getting on well together. I sometimes forget which child belongs to which parents as they mix in so well. All the kids are very well-mannered and those that are old enough either have jobs or are in college. Not a bad penny amongst them. In fact the only ones misbehaving were my brother and I

                • They do say 'There's one in every family' VC - but apparently your family got lucky and has two!

Spending some time with friends over Christmas. There are some lovely people about. I don't see much of my family. They are rather wrapped up in themselves as that's the way their mother likes it.

So spending time with friends and neighbours and just enjoying ourselves was lovely. We had a little chat this morning about the fact that 'blood is thicker than water' could perhaps be swapped for 'you can pick your friends but not your family.'

Blood has nothing to do with it - some people are just plain nice!

                  • Seeing my daughters face as she opened her Christmas presents and realised when all were opened she has now got a full set of tools, mini raised bed kit, seeds, gloves and an all in one suit to keep her warm! Only problem we had to go and test them out yesterday in the rain! Still one very very happy 2 year old.

                      • Buying myself a PILE of art books, I just can't wait to get reading them. 90% of the time I get library books, and I can't justify spending money on books I'll only read once. This lot weren't available in the UK, so I treated myself, using a well known tax avoiding online store. To ease my conscience at giving them even more tax-free income, I'll be donating them to my local library service when I've finished with them.
