  • Its Friday and its the first day of March which to me means the start of Spring.
The cowslips are flowering and I've just eaten a big bowl of bean stew cooked on top of the woodburner. I'm a very happy little chicken
    Hope you are too

    • Dad is getting home from Hospital (again) tomorrow afternoon

I do feel a wee bit guilty for having a great stress free day down at the plot today without having to jump back and forth to give him lunch etc........ Just a wee bit though

                      • Driving home this evening, gorgous scenery, all darkish clouds, but sun shining thru and omg green! on the ground! Unheard of, unseen for a while, and the darker mountains. Twas lovely, then saw a smallish muddy dam near the road, about 5 native ducks, @rse to the road, @rse deep in water, head down yabby'ing. Got to love them, they know how to find a meal!

                        • Green again? Like in Italy, where Autumn can bring a sort of second Spring? My Ma said it was the same in Cyprus too.

                          • Grass normally hays off here so it always looks yellow/brown. It's actually good because the hayed grass doesn't cause founder in the horses, and seems to 'stick to their ribs' and be more nutricious than the green stuff on the coast. But we had got to the crunchy grass bit, and then were into the dirt with not much on it. So green for a bit is really nice. And going into winter means I won't be buying feed as early

                              • Having worked our asses off for a week, now looking out of the kitchen window and seeing a garden instead of a jungle of over-grown leylandii, brambles, nettles, dead willow-herb and abandoned toys, barbecues, pots full of weeds, filthy garden furniture...
Just one more tip run, one more session with the long-reach trimmers and a good scrub of the patio bit and bingo! Done!
