  • Holiday seed saving

I've just returned from 10 days holiday, route - Dover to Calais ferry, drive to Bordeaux for 2 night to enable visit to Remy Martin (don't ask how much I spent their!). Then to Madrid for an overnight stay, followed by the final leg to Fuengirola for 7 days.
I saved seeds from a yellow cherry and a cherry plum tomato, as well as seeds from Komato (F1 hybrids, strictly controlled growers). The latter might not give uniformn results, but I might see what I get,
I also saved Felicia from the balcony, and some LANTANA CAMARA berries from around the apartments and grounds.
Sadly on the way back we couldn't stop to pick one of the cactus seed pods from alom=n tne wall, but the seeds might not have been ripe enough anyway. With VERY limited space I restrained myself and just bought some beans and a packet of orange patty pan courgettes.
Have any of you bought stuff back with you and how successful were you?
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!
    Now a little Shrinking Violet.

I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

Wherever I go I collect seeds (or cuttings). Most of the time I haven't a clue what the parent plant is, but, if it has seeds I want them. I carry those bank bags around with me, the ones for small change. They're ideal for slipping the odd seed into - if only I remembered to label them at the same time!
I've grown agapanthus and estrelicia?sp, a wonderful Greek mint and various other things I really can't remember now! They are the best sort of holiday souvenir!!
